Of all the rooms in the house the kitchen needed the most work. I think it is also the biggest transformation. I hated the cabinets and knew I couldn't leave them the way they were. So I did A LOT of painting. I think it turned out really great!

Things have been so crazy! I feel like I don't even have time to breathe since we moved. School will be starting again in the next few weeks and I'm hoping that life will settle down once it does. So maybe sometime soon I will have time to work on my blog again. Here's hoping!

We are finally starting to get settled in our new house. We still have work to do, improvements to make, and rooms to finish in the basement. It's been so much work and I'll be happier than I can express in words when its over. I can't wait for life to return to normal. I'll post before and after pictures as we finish things up. Orin graduated from preschool yesterday. He was so stinkin' cute in his graduation program and was making us laugh so hard. (I think we may have a class clown on our hands.) We had fun watching him sing, dance and say his part. He did awesome! Way to go Orin!

We have about three weeks and I don't know how we're going to finish everything that we need to. It's going to take lots of work, time and patience. I'm excited, nervous, stressed, anxious and worried all at the same time. We've lived here for so long that I don't know what to think of this all. I'm excited to live closer to my in-laws but sad that I'll be moving away from my Mom. I know this will be good for my little family but a HUGE change. Change is good, right?

Alton saw me accidently spray the mirror with hair detangler. I told him that I would have to clean it. A few minutes later he came back and he had a wipe so he could clean it. It was adorable!

We were riding in the car last week when I heard Eadie tell Orin that the sign for Kaysville was coming up. She was pointing it out to him when she said that she wondered where Scooby-Doo's house was. Teya then informed them that Scooby-Doo doesn't live in Kaysville, he lives in Coolsville. Pretty amusing!

We went to the park and had lunch on Wednesday. It was very nice and the kids had fun playing. Orin met two little boys while we were there. He was talking to them about our van. He said "We used to have a blue van but it broke down. So then we got this one." He then leans on the hood of the van and says "This baby rocks!"

A few weeks ago we took Eadie to the baptism preview. While we were there and they were talking, she asked me, "When you get baptized do you still have to get in the bath?"

We took the kids bowling the other weekend. None of them had ever been except for Teya. They all had a great time and did so well.
Alton was fun to watch. Everytime he finished his turn he would do a little dance and put his arms in the air. He got the highest score after Justin!
I really must be horrible at bowling because I got the lowest score of anyone! All of my kids beat me! We had a lot of fun!

We went shopping on Saturday. Justin bought deodorant. The funniest deodorant I've ever seen. There were four different kinds and they all had different names and different sayings on the back. It made me laugh it was so weird.

I started exercising a week ago. I've had some pretty sore muscles since then. Normally I'm a bit of a chocoholic, but since I started exercising I haven't been craving sweets at all. It's really a switch for me. Some people will frown on this I'm sure, but I've actually lost 4 lbs. this week.
I've been going out and running at night. I LOVE running! I think it's so therapeutic. I hope to get into better shape and maybe even run a marathon one of these days.

I am amazed so often at how smart my kids are. Orin made a new character on a game the kids play. He named it by himself and he told me the name was "eat my sock". When I received an email confirming that he had made a character it had the name in the email. The name of his character was "Etmysok". I was so impressed! I couldn't believe that he had sounded it out so well. What a smarty!

Justin and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary last week (we've been together for 10). How time flies. It's hard to believe that we've really been together for that long. So much has changed in that amount of time.

The day before our anniversary I was thinking about how different my life was ten years ago. I would have never thought then, that my life would be where it is now.

I'm thankful for the one person who really "gets" me, understands me and wants to make me happy above anything else.

It's so interesting how life changes. I remember when I was having my babies and I couldn't imagine a time that I would feel like I was finished having kids and not want to have a baby anymore. It was one of the hardest decisions I made, after Alton was born to get my tubes tied. I was so worried that I would regret my decision and want to have more kids.
Several friends and aquaintances have had babies lately. They are such a miracle. But there is not one little part of me that wants to go back to that phase of life. Babies are so much work and I love sleep too much to want that again.
I'm so thankful for my own "babies", it is amazing to watch them blossom right before my eyes. They are each at there own individual stages and it's so fascinating to watch them change. I'm so glad that I get to be a Mom!

The problem with that is I just don't think that far ahead. I guess I'm forever doomed.

After observing Alton I decided that he may be ready to potty train. I asked him if he wanted me to go get the little potty out of the basement so he could use it, he did. I brought it up and took him in the bathroom to sit on it. He started saying "water". I wasn't sure what he was saying at first and then I realized that he wanted me to put water in the potty. He wouldn't sit on it until I had put some water in it. He wanted it to be like the potty that everyone else use's. It was really cute!

When I said we were on a roll with the surgeries I guess I was right. After going to see my OB/GYN he informed me last week that I needed to go back in and have another surgery. I have a cyst on my ovary and he thinks that I have adhesions. So lucky me, I get to go back in on Tuesday. I really hope this will take care of it. I'm tired of dealing with pelvic pain!

Eadie told me a few weeks ago that she wanted to get her hair cut. I haven't had enough strength in my shoulder since my surgery to do it. She asked me again on Thursday if she could get it cut to her shoulders. So we cut it! It turned out really cute and it will be easier to take care of, but I seem to be emotionally attached to her hair for some reason. I can do anything to mine and not care one bit so what's the deal?

I took Alton into the ENT doctor today. The pediatrician said we needed to go in after we found out on Thursday that he has another ear infection. He just barely finished antibiotics for the last ear infection and he already has another. The doctor is going to do surgery again to put tubes in and he is also going to take out his adenoids. The surgery is scheduled for November 4th.
This makes 3 surgeries in a four month time span. I think we're on a roll.

Teya sleep walks. I don't know how many of you know that. Last night she came into my room carrying her pillow and blanket. She walked over to my dresser with her pillow and tried to open my drawer. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was trying to put the blanket away. I told her that she was holding a pillow and that neither the blanket or pillow belonged in my drawer. She got a little agitated, but continued to try and open the drawer. I kept telling her it didn't go in there and she just kept getting mad. Then she layed down at the end of my bed. I told her to go get in bed. She made some whining noises and then got up. She started to walk out without her stuff and I told her to grab her pillow and blanket. She walked back over to my dresser and grabbed a piece of paper off of it and started to leave. Justin and I burst out laughing. I tried to tell her that wasn't her pillow and she just started to get more agitated. Finally she did get her stuff and go back to bed.

The next day she never remembers what she did. Whenever she sleep walks she's difficult to deal with. She gets mad easily and won't listen. Whenever we tell her the next day about what she did she laughs about it and can't belive how strange she acted.

It's so weird how our brains work!

I was surprised when five days after my surgery I got to take off the bandage and found this underneath (with stitches still in it of course). I was not expecting the incision to be so big. I was also not expecting it to be located where it is. I'm really hoping that it won't leave a big nasty scar. The tendons are still really tight and I can't open my hand all the way. I work on it everyday but it's going to take some time. I'm hoping that sometime in the next six years I will actually feel back to normal again.

Time flies by so fast.
As I walked up to preschool to pick up Orin yesterday and he came running towards me I thought, how can this be? I remember so vividly as if it were yesterday Eadie being in his same place. Eadie was the one running towards me and telling me all about her day at preschool.
Sitting here now, I just want to cry thinking of how fast my babies are growing up. How can Teya possibly be going into young women's this year? How can Eadie possibly be in first grade and growing more and more independent? How can Orin already be in preschool? And how can my baby not be a baby anymore, but a toddler?
I am reminded over and over again that you just have to cherish every moment.

Today is Orin's first day of preschool. I don't think I've ever seen him as excited for something his whole life as he was to start school. We went on Monday to the open house and his teacher gave him a school bag that has his name on it. He was so happy to have a bag for school like the girls do.

The excitment of my life

Things just seem to get better and better. I went to see my OB/GYN today and I'm going to have a hysterectomy and a vestibulectomy at the same time as my shoulder and hand surgery. I'm REALLY not looking forward to it. I'm going to be a complete mess.
I'm having a hysterectomy for my pelvic congestion syndrome. I had felt better for several months being on the progesterone but for the last five or six months it has gotten really bad again and I have pelvic pain almost all the time. I really didn't want to have a hysterectomy when I was first diagnosed with pelvic congestion but after praying about it and doing some research I feel like it's the right thing.
I don't want to go into too much detail about the vestibulectomy but basically I have been having pain for about the last four months from the episiotomy that I had when I had Teya. I tried a Rx he prescribed for two months and it didn't help so he is going to cut part of it out. Fun huh?
I think the surgery is still going to be on the same day but we're getting it all worked out. I was having it at a surgical center but now I have to have it at a hospital because I have to stay over night. The doctor's have to coordinate everything and get it all worked out. I should know by tomorrow what's going on.

I started working on this afghan at the end of last year and I just finished it Sunday night. I didn't know what to do with all the yarn I had left over from making stuff so I decided to make them into squares and make them into an afghan. I think it turned out really good!

Emotions

On Saturday I was watching a video that a friend made me about my pregnancy with Alton and his birth. Eadie and Orin were with me. There were some receipts sitting next to my computer and I heard what sounded like water hitting one of the receipts. I pulled back Eadie's hair to see her face and she had big tears streaming down her cheeks. I asked her why she was crying and she said it was so sad.
This is the first time that I know of her crying not because she was mad, or hurt, or upset with someone but just crying because she was emotional about something.

Will it ever end

After dealing with my shoulder for the last 8 months I'm finally going to have surgery on it. I've had three different cortisone shots, done physical therapy and taken medication, but all to no avail. It will feel better for a little bit and then start to hurt again. I had decided that I would get it fixed during the summer so that Teya would be here to help. But my Dad was here visiting and then Justin needed his knee done, so I am waiting.
I saw the doctor Wednesday and my surgery is scheduled for September 8th. I have a cyst on my left hand at the base of my ring finger that he is going to remove at the same time. I also discovered that the middle finger on my right hand is a trigger finger (it started hurting a week ago) and he wants to inject it with cortisone at the same time. So I'm going to be a bit of a mess for a few days.
I'm really not looking forward to the surgery. He said that it's extremely painful. It will be about two hours, and he has to shave the bone down. It is supposed to be straight and instead it curves down and rubs on my rotator cuff. If it doesn't get fixed than it will eventually tear my rotator cuff. What sucks is that sometime I will have to get the other shoulder fixed too.
I feel like I'm falling apart and I shouldn't be since I'm not very old. Wish me luck!

Justin's surgery

Justin's surgery was yesterday. Things went well. It wasn't his meniscus after all it was the cartilage, so the doctor shaved some of it off. He said that down the road he may have more problems with it, but we'll hope not. Hopefully he will feel much better now that it's all fixed up.

A tooth

After having her front teeth knocked out almost a year ago Eadie finally has a tooth growing in on the top. I enjoyed her not having any teeth on the top for so long. It was cute and this time will only come once. All good things must come to an end!

Annoying doctor's

The doctor's office called the other day to inform us that the doctor had a meeting and couldn't do Justin's surgery on the 7th. So now it's scheduled for the 4th. Which is really annoying because it was on a Friday and he was only going to miss two days of work. Now it's scheduled for a Tuesday and he'll have to take off four days. I hate the way doctor's schedules are always more important than your own.

Potty training update

Orin has been wearing underwear for three days straight now (after a relapse of a few weeks) and has only had one accident. I'm very proud of him! I hope he keeps it up and that the end is finally in sight.

Poor little staple head

We were getting ready to take Teya to gymnastics today and Alton fell and hit his head on the television stand in his room. He started to cry so I picked him up. He was holding the front of his head (where I assumed he had hit it) while I rocked him. After a few minutes he seemed fine and wanted to get up. So I put him down. Then I noticed that my arm felt wet, I looked at it and it was covered in blood. As was the back of Alton's shirt and all his hair in the back. I quickly took him to get him cleaned up and see how bad it was. He had a pretty deep cut on the back of his head. I called the doctor's office and they said we could come in. So we drove to our pediatricians where they decided that he would need staples in his head. This was my first (but probably not my last, since I have boys) experience with staples. Not too pleasant for Alton. We'll go back in 10 days to get them out.

Justin's knee

A few weeks ago Justin hurt his knee while we were working in the yard. After a few days we went to instacare and they said they thought he had torn his meniscus and that he needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. He was hoping it would get better and waited several weeks before going. He finally went in last Thursday and he has to have surgery. It's scheduled for August 7th. I hope things go well and that he heals quickly.

Last week Justin's lunch box was sitting on the counter. I was cleaning up the kitchen and opened his lunch box to make sure there were no dishes in it. Inside I found a note from Eadie saying "I ♥ U☺ have a great day. ♥ Eadie" And then she had placed a piece of lunch meat in the bottom of the box. It wasn't in anything, it was just sitting there. It was just so cute. What a sweet heart to attempt to make a lunch for her Daddy!

Today Orin went potty in the toilet for the very first time. I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end. We don't have long before preschool starts and he has to be potty trained to go.
Before he went potty he told Justin that he didn't want anyone to clap or woo hoo because it was embarrassing.
He finally seems interested now, so keep your fingers crossed.

Not thankful for.....

Orin has had me help him say his prayers for a very long time. The other night at dinner it was his turn to pray. I asked him to try and say the prayer by himself. So he did, while whispering to me the whole time what he was going to say.
He started the prayer about three different times. He first said things that he was thankful for, like the food and the table and chairs. Then he went on to say the things he wasn't thankful for, which included ants and snails. Then he whispered to me that he was going to say roly-poly's but that he was going to whisper it so Eadie didn't hear, since she likes them.
The prayer lasted a long time but it was fun to listen to him. I don't think I've ever heard someone pray about things they're not thankful for.

Orin calls McDonald's "Nick-Donald's". He calls litter "glitter". We were at the mall the other day and they were doing construction and there was garbage all over and he said "Look at all the glitter, people shouldn't glitter."

Eadie calls getting a sip of a drink a "zip". She'll say "Dad, can I have a zip of your water?"

I have to record these things and this is basically like my journal so you all get to be privy to it.

People have always known that I like to change my hair. It's one of my hobbies. But I had gotten a bit bored so I decided to try something a little bit crazy. I had purchased some hair dye that I was going to use as streaks in my hair but instead decided just to color it. So a few weeks ago I told Justin not to be shocked when he came home. He said "what did you do to your hair?" He figured I had cut it a lot or something but actually I had colored it blue.
It was so different and so fun. After the blue faded I colored it purple. So I have had funky hair for about a month now. I get some pretty strange looks at church sometimes but that's okay. I don't mind.
You should hear the things that Eadie's kindergarten class said about it when it was blue. I had to laugh. Eventually I'll go back to more traditional colors but for now I'm really loving it!

While I was working on this post Teya came in and said "I like the color better in real life. It looked more blue. It looks more gray in the pictures". So there you have it. You can't quite capture the real color from pictures. (I don't have any pictures of purple yet. When I get some I'll post them.)

Teya asked me the other day how girls get pregnant.
I was taken aback at first.
I wasn't expecting it at all.
I have to say, that was one of my proudest parenting moments so far.
I was totally honest with her and she seemed to handle it fine. I wasn't sure how to tell my kids about the "birds and the bee's" but I guess you just deal with things as they come. That's what parenting is all about.

Miss Saigon

For my birthday my Mom bought me tickets to go see Miss Saigon at Pioneer Theater Company. Justin and I went on Monday to see the show. It was AMAZING! I was introduced to the music at 15 and have loved it since. It was so awesome to finally see the show. We had a great time!

Blanket

Every year at the girls school each classroom fills a basket with different items that go with a theme. Then they auction them off to earn money for the school. The theme for Eadie's class' basket is "baby", so Justin suggested that we each crochet something to put in the basket. He said he would make a hat and I could make mittens. I decided I didn't want to make mittens because they would be so small they would be hard. I decided that I would make a blanket. I have been working my butt off all week since it had to be turned in by Friday and I only started it on Sunday.

My Dad taught me how to crochet when I was 14 but then I didn't do it for about 17 years. At the end of last year I retaught myself how to do it and have made many many things since then. This is the first blanket I have finished. I am very proud of myself and thought it turned out great so I wanted to post it.

After making this it has given me a greater appreciation for my sweet sister-in-law who made me a blanket a few years ago for Christmas. Thanks for all the time you put into my gift Angelic!

"Baby in the sea" makes you want to shake your booty

Yesterday we cleaned out our basement. We found a box full of CD's that Justin decided to go through. While the kids were getting ready for bed they starting looking through the box. Orin found Nirvana's album nevermind and started calling it "baby in the sea". He took it into his room and turned it on. Alton was just standing there calmly holding his blanket and sucking his thumb (I think I cursed us in my last post. He has been walking around sucking his thumb lately). As soon as the music began he started dancing around like a crazy person. I have never seen him dance with such exuberance before. It was so funny. The kids were all dancing around and laughing and having a great time. It was fun to watch.

Ever since last night Orin keeps asking to listen to "baby in the sea". It makes me smile.

I don't even know where to start with this post.

When the doctor called yesterday with the results he said that my HCG level was zero. He said that I had an ectopic pregnancy that my body had reabsorbed. He also said that I needed to do something so this didn't happen again. (Like a partial hysterectomy).

This morning when I got up I still felt really horrible. I was in a lot of pain. I decided that I better get back in to see the doctor. He wasn't in today. So Justin called one of my old OB's. She wasn't in today. So I called another one of my old OB's. He wasn't in today. (Apparently it's a rule that they don't work on Friday) Luckily the doctor who delivered Alton was in today. So I got an appointment with him.

He did another ultrasound and said that things looked good. There were no ruptured tubes and he couldn't see anything that was seriously out of wack. He wanted to check my HCG level as well. He said he would call with the results and we would decide where to go from there.

In the meantime I had Justin call the endocrinologist office to make sure that they had given us the right results and not someone else's. The nurse said it was right but called quest diagnostics to make sure.

Dr. Yamashiro called and said the same thing the other doctor did. It looked like it was an ectopic pregnancy that my body was taking care of.

So about 30 min. after I talked to the doctor, the manager guy called from quest diagnostics and said that while they were running my blood something had happened with the computer and they had to input my information manually. Apparently, the person who was inputting my information put their tracking number in my HCG level. So I was never even pregnant!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

How annoying is that? They are going to pay for all the medical bills and stuff but I'm so mad. What if I had had surgery? I am still in a lot of pain but I'm just assuming, as I did before, that it's from my pelvic congestion syndrome.

Do you ever have one of those days that changes your life?

I went to see an endocrinologist last week for some problems that I've been having. My regular doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong with me so she sent me there. They called me this morning and told me that........................I'm pregnant.
I was stunned. I couldn't believe what she was telling me. I had my tubes tied about a year and a half ago.
So, of course I had to go to see my OB/GYN asap. I went in and had an ultrasound and there is nothing in my uterus. He said it's most likely an ectopic pregnancy. So were just waiting for my blood work to come back to decide if I need to go in for surgery.

Yesterday I was just going on living my normal life and today I'm pregnant. Sometimes things really just don't go the way you planned.

I'm trying to potty train Orin. Alton will go and sit in the bathroom with him and look at magazines. Just giving him the support he needs. What a good brother.

Then after Orin is finished on the potty Alton wants a turn. I'm starting to wonder if he'll be potty trained before Orin is.

Any ideas on ways to train a 4 year old who isn't really interested? I could use the advice.

My kids teach me so many different things.

We bought the girls a new hamper for there room the other day. While Eadie was saying her prayers that night, she said "We're thankful for our new hamper". How many adults would think to be thankful for such a trivial thing?

Life is full of simple joys. We just have to see them!

Bubble hair

So when I went to get my tattoo the girl told me that she did touch ups for free. After it healed, two of the stars didn't look very good. The coloring was kind of messed up. So I called last week to set up an appointment. The day before my appointment the secretary dude called and said that she was double booked and they needed to change my appointment. I changed it. The day of my appointment Sara called me and said she was sick and needed to change my appointment. I changed it. I show up for my appointment today and she called in sick and isn't there. I told them she had already canceled my appointment twice so they called her and told her she had to come in. I finally got it fixed, but I won't be going back to her to get the tattoo on my back fixed (whenever that may be).

I'm curious how this post will turn out because I'm doing it from my phone while sitting in the tattoo parlor.

I had a really cool experience on Tuesday. My crazy best friend talked me into getting up at four in the morning so that we could go to the very first session at the Draper Temple. I was exhausted the rest of the day but it was totally worth it!

Gentlemen prefer blondes

A few weeks ago I decided that I was getting tired of having red hair and wanted a change. I haven't been blond for a while and knew that was what I wanted to do. But, since I am in the process of growing it out I didn't think it would be the best idea. (Who wants to grow out hair that is severely damaged?)
Long story short, I decided I was going to go blond but that I wasn't going to do it myself. So I went last week and had my wonderful stylist do it. It turned out really cute and I am enjoying being a blond again. And, as a bonus, my hair decided to behave and is as healthy as it was before I got it colored.

My hair looks darker in the picture than it actually is. It looks more like a light brown than a blond. But in person it is actually blond.

Over the hill

My cousin and her husband share the same birthday and they turned 50 this week (she's 26 and he's 24). So they had an over the hill birthday party and told everyone to dress up like Grandma's or Grandpa's.

My husband is so dedicated to the things he decides to do. It was time for a hair cut so he asked me to cut his hair like an old man who only has hair on the sides and around the back. The pictures don't really do it justice but everyone at the party thought his hair was really like that. He looked so much older and so different. He even shaved off all his facial hair for the party. (This is only the second time I have seen him with no facial hair.)

We we're a pretty scary looking couple but we had SO MUCH FUN!

My sister gave me this Moses basket after her babies had outgrown it. I used it for two of my babies (I think) and then gave it to my best friend. It is currently being stored in the basement of my house and Eadie & Orin decided that they needed to use it for their babies.
But then Eadie had to go to school.
Orin started to use it as a cat bed. Then of course Alton wanted to get in too. So they both sat in it happy as could be. I saw them and had to take pictures. I went downstairs to show Justin the pictures and when I came back up Alton had his blanket and was now lying in the basket. It was just too cute!
