I know you have all been waiting patiently to hear what our next adventure is going to be so I won't make you wait any longer. After much debate over the course of several months I decided that I'm going to have rhinoplasty done. That's right...I'm getting a nose job.
I have hated my nose ever since I can remember and I finally decided that I was going to do something about it. So I started looking into plastic surgery and then met with a plastic surgeon a few weeks ago. I talked to him and decided I wanted to do it. The surgery is set for May 7th. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
It's going to be a pretty complicated surgery as noses go. The surgeon is going to cut my nose at the bottom in between my nostrils and then pull the entire skin up to expose the bone and cartilage. He is going to chip away the bone and then shave off the cartilage to make it much smaller. Then he is going to reshape the tip so it isn't so square. My nose pulls down when I smile because the tissue between my nose and mouth is too tight. So he will cut that. I'm also going to say good-bye to my friend the mole who lives next to my nose.
The surgery is supposed to last about two hours. I know it's going to hurt like a mother. I will have to wear a splint for 10 days and then depending on if they have to break my nose or not I may have to wear it for 3 months afterward when I sleep.
Because the skin on the nose is so thick it takes a long time for the swelling to go down especially in the tip of the nose. So I won't really be able to see the results for about three months, although they say it takes a year to get the full picture of what the finished product is. I am going to post pictures of the entire process so stay tuned to see the new me.
