My little Ed

I don't know how many of you used to watch the cartoon "The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley", but I did. I remember watching it with Mike. We both loved it. In the years that followed we would reminisce about the show. Ed was devised and played by Martin Short. The front of his hair stood straight up in the air. For some reason my baby has really funny hair. Sometimes it will do the craziest things on it’s own. The other day it was standing straight up. I had to laugh. I called him Ed all day.

The return of...the trampoline

Orin went to see the doctor yesterday and they said that it's broken just above the ankle. So he gets to wear a blue cast for the next four weeks. He also has to wear this shoe which he doesn't like because it makes him trip. He keeps trying to take it off. I'd rather try to keep that on then try to keep him from walking on his leg though. He is getting around pretty well and was even running on it this morning. Nothing can slow him down!

Sweet bottom

Here's a tushy shot just for you Dani.

Hair today, gone tomorrow.

I have been growing my hair out for about a year, and it was about an inch and a half past my ears. I had a mishap a couple of months ago that screwed up my hair. It was really damaged. So I've spent the last few months trying to get it back to a somewhat healthy state, but it hasn't really helped. So after much debate I decided it would be best to cut it. I still plan to grow it out, I've just had a little set back. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out plus it's easy to do again. I do feel a little naked but I'll get used to it in a few days I'm sure. Here's the results...

No wonder Daddy hates trampolines!

Poor Orin. He fell off of the trampoline yesterday and seemed just fine until this morning. He started to limp and as the day went on he wouldn't put any weight on his leg at all. So we went and spent 6 hours at Primary Children's Hospital. They think he has what is called a toddler fracture. It's where the bone is so flexible that it doesn't break in two and the bone surface isn't fractured enough to be obvious on xray. Like when you bend a green stick a few of the fibers on the side break but when you straighten the stick it looks okay, it's the same with the bone. So they put a splint on his leg that is from his foot to his thigh. He can't walk on it or crawl or do anything. He is supposed to rest with his leg elevated. Then he's supposed to see an orthopedic doctor on Wednesday. I hope I can keep him occupied until then.

Our next adventrure

I know you have all been waiting patiently to hear what our next adventure is going to be so I won't make you wait any longer. After much debate over the course of several months I decided that I'm going to have rhinoplasty done. That's right...I'm getting a nose job.
I have hated my nose ever since I can remember and I finally decided that I was going to do something about it. So I started looking into plastic surgery and then met with a plastic surgeon a few weeks ago. I talked to him and decided I wanted to do it. The surgery is set for May 7th. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
It's going to be a pretty complicated surgery as noses go. The surgeon is going to cut my nose at the bottom in between my nostrils and then pull the entire skin up to expose the bone and cartilage. He is going to chip away the bone and then shave off the cartilage to make it much smaller. Then he is going to reshape the tip so it isn't so square. My nose pulls down when I smile because the tissue between my nose and mouth is too tight. So he will cut that. I'm also going to say good-bye to my friend the mole who lives next to my nose.
The surgery is supposed to last about two hours. I know it's going to hurt like a mother. I will have to wear a splint for 10 days and then depending on if they have to break my nose or not I may have to wear it for 3 months afterward when I sleep.
Because the skin on the nose is so thick it takes a long time for the swelling to go down especially in the tip of the nose. So I won't really be able to see the results for about three months, although they say it takes a year to get the full picture of what the finished product is. I am going to post pictures of the entire process so stay tuned to see the new me.
